How to pronounce Sudoku
One of the first problems people have with the game is its name.
When you look at the letters, “Sudoku” is not a complicated word. But any time you have a word that alternates vowels and consonants in this way, it doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue.
To make matters worse, the vowels in this particular word can make the same sounds as each other (“do” can sound like “due” or “dough”).
The correct way to say “Sudoku” is: “Sue”, followed by “Dough”, followed by “Koo”.
Of course, even if you know how to say it, there are still about twenty different ways to spell those sounds. I’ve seen everything from "sudoka", "suduko", "soduko", "suduku"... well, you get the idea.
In the end, I guess you can say that everything about learning Sudoku takes practice. This includes the game and the word!
